Healthy boundaries are the limits we set for ourselves in our relationships that describe what we’re willing to accept or not. They help us to create a healthy separation from other people and decide what’s right for us (Martin, 2021). They can be physical, emotional, social, time-based, financial, etc. Since boundaries are very personal to us, we can have boundaries that are different from those around us. We get to choose what is okay and not okay with us for ourselves. Clinical Social Worker, Sharon Martin, wrote the Better Boundaries Workbook and offers this exercise to help set healthy boundaries.
